Dickenson County Historical Society

The Dickenson County Historical Society, Inc. is a small 501 (c) 3 organization staffed
entirely by volunteers who strive to collect, archive and preserve the history of Virginia’s
Baby – Dickenson County. To meet this goal, the Historical Society depends upon
monetary donations and donations of genealogical information and historical items
from our members and the general public.
Hours
Current office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For anyone who
cannot visit during those hours, appointments can be scheduled.

Mission Statement: “To nurture and promote awareness and appreciation of local, regional, and Virginia
history and culture and to identify, collect, preserve and manage materials related to
local history and culture and to make such materials available to researchers and to
the public.”

Basic driving directions
If you are traveling east into the Town of Clintwood on Dickenson Highway turn right at
the traffic light onto Ralph Cummins Avenue; drive approximately 200 feet and turn
right to 156 Ralph Cummins Avenue. Our name is on the building.
If you are traveling west on Dickenson Highway in the Town of Clintwood, turn left on
Ralph Cummins Avenue at the traffic light at the intersection of Dickenson Highway,
Brush Creek Road and Ralph Cummins Avenue; drive approximately 200 feet and turn
right to 156 Ralph Cummins Avenue. Our name is on the building.
