Birch Knob Trailhead
At an elevation of 3,144 feet above sea level, you’ll find the 100-yard walk from the parking lot and the 183 stair steps to reach the top to be well worth the trek. Sitting on a rock outcrop at the highest summit of Pine Mountain, the observation tower allows visitors to access an elevated vantage point for spectacular views of the surrounding terrain. Visitors will have a 360-degree views of the rolling Appalachian Mountains, forests, and valleys of Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Ohio. The sight of the landscape, especially during fall foliage or at sunset, can be truly remarkable.
